Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism

Designed for learners who wish to develop an understanding of autism and how to support individuals with autism

There are around 700,000 people on the autism spectrum in the UK – that’s more than 1 in 100. According to the National Autistic Society, if you include their families, autism is a part of daily life for 2.8 million people. This qualification aims to develop the candidates understanding of autism and how they can support individuals with autism in a range of different contexts, whether they work in health, social care or children’s or young people’s settings.

Eligibility

This training programme is fully funded for those aged 19 and over (Eligibility is generally unemployed and in receipt of benefits).

Course Delivery & Duration

This is a distance learning programme which requires you to have access to a computer and internet. Once enrolled you will be given access to our digital platform with online learning materials and online assessments. This course can take up to 6 weeks to complete.

Units covered during this programme include;

  • Introduction to autism

  • Using a person-centred approach to support individuals with autism

  • Communication and social interaction in individuals with autism

  • Supporting positive behaviour in individuals with autism

  • Supporting individuals with autism to live healthy and fulfilled lives
